Adam King Art
Artist Bio
Adam King is an artist who grew up a few miles outside of Sardis, MS. Living in the country, playing outside, and going hunting, gave him an appreciation for rural southern living.

King started taking his first art classes in 2016 while attending Northwest Community College. There, he met his first mentor Mr. Lawayne House. Initially hesitant about painting he discovered a passion for it under Mr. House's guidance. He credits Mr. House with fostering his work ethic and artistic passion. When he started attending Delta State University in the fall of 2019, he was able to see a retrospective show of longtime painter and teacher Sammy Britt's work. He was immediately inspired and wanted to meet Britt. He introduced himself to Britt and they eventually started working together at Britt's studio. King learned early on from Britt to get rid of his preconceptions, humble himself before nature and truly study what is in front of him. King strives to paint the visual truth of nature and see the beauty in the everyday living and commonplace things. King graduated with a BFA in 2021 and continued to work with Sammy Britt until he passed away on December 18, 2023.
King is currently attending Delta State for his MFA in Studio Art degree. He has had one solo exhibition and two magazine articles written about his work.
