                                      Artist Bio

Adam King is an artist who grew up a few miles outside of Sardis, MS. where country living, playing outside, and going hunting, gave him an appreciation for rural southern living.

King started taking his first art classes in 2016 while attending Northwest Community College. There he met his first mentor, Mr. Lawayne House. Initially hesitant about painting, he discovered a passion for it under Mr. House’s guidance. In the fall of 2019, King enrolled at Delta State University where he was introduced to the work of longtime painter and professor Sammy Britt. He was immediately inspired and fell under the mentorship of the seasoned painter. Britt encouraged King to get rid of his preconceptions, humble himself before nature and truly study what is in front of him. King strives to paint the visual truth of nature and see the beauty in the everyday living and commonplace things. King graduated with a BFA in 2021 and continued to work with Sammy Britt until he passed away on December 18, 2023.

King recently graduated from Delta State with his MFA in Studio Art degree. He has had one solo exhibition, one MFA thesis exhibition and two magazine articles written about his work.
